March 12, 2009

I've spoken to many local business owners recently and they all seem to say the same thing "things are slow". Or "we're hanging on by a string". I can't figure out why local owners don't help one another out? Would people and businesses be more willing to purchase from local companies if they knew businesses were struggling? Let's take for instance a car wash that is located on Wilmington Pike. I can remember my dad taking us there to get the car washed. It was a BIG deal many moons ago to get to watch your car get cleaned as you walked down the long windowed hallway. Without more business, it is just going to be another empty lot.

God has blessed my brother and I with a good business, Cable & Connector Technologies. We work hard for every ounce of it. I can't say it any other way than just - we are truly blessed. At the same time we have the constant fear in the back of our minds that we too will be like the car wash listed above one day. No, I'm not writing this to ask you to buy from us. I'm writing this because I think of places like Milano's and Treasure Island who serve Lay's potato chips. They are Dayton businesses who should support a Dayton business, Mike-Sell's. And if these people could unite - what a great marketing campaign!! Kind of like the Target commercials who also advertise a bunch of "stuff". It just makes sense. Remind the public who you are and why you should be here in twenty years. I don't know about you, but I miss Dominics. Nothing will ever compare to it.

Ok, I'm done with tonights rant. This was all on my brain and I just had to ramble it off real quick.
